AC Installation in Mississauga: Get a FREE Whole-Home Humidifier This Spring (Offer Ends April 30, 2026)

If you've been considering a new air conditioner installation in Mississauga, there's never been a better time to act. For a limited time, GLORS Heating & Air Conditioning is offering a free whole-home humidifier with every new central air conditioner installation, at no extra cost. But this offer is only valid for bookings confirmed on or before April 30, so timing matters.

Why Spring Is the Best Time for AC Installation in Mississauga

Most GTA homeowners wait until the first July heatwave to call an HVAC contractor, and that's exactly when availability is scarcest. Scheduling your air conditioner installation in Mississauga during spring means shorter wait times, more system choices, and a home that's ready to cool the moment temperatures climb.

Benefits of spring HVAC installation in the GTA:

Better scheduling flexibility with licensed HVAC contractors

Time to properly evaluate and size the right central AC system for your home

No rush decisions, choose an energy-efficient system that fits your budget

Your home is summer-ready before the heat arrives

Access to seasonal promotions not available during peak summer demand

The Spring Offer: Free Whole-Home Humidifier with Every New AC Installation

To reward homeowners who plan ahead, we're running a limited-time spring promotion:

FREE whole-home humidifier with every new central air conditioner installation
Valid for bookings confirmed on or before April 30, 2026
Available to homeowners in Mississauga, Brampton, Milton, and across the GTA

This means you're not just upgrading your cooling system, you're improving your home's overall indoor air quality and comfort, all in one installation.

More Than Cooling: Why a Whole-Home Humidifier Is Worth Having

Most homeowners in Mississauga associate humidifiers with winter dryness, but a whole-home humidifier integrated with your central air conditioning system delivers year-round benefits. When your AC runs on hot summer days, it can over-dry indoor air. A humidifier automatically maintains healthy moisture levels throughout your home, regardless of the season.

Benefits of pairing a humidifier with your new AC system:

Balanced indoor humidity year-round

Improved indoor air quality, particularly helpful for allergy and asthma sufferers

Protects wood flooring, furniture, and structural materials from dryness-related damage

Reduces static electricity and airborne irritants

Makes your home feel more comfortable at the same thermostat setting, which can lower energy use

Is It Time to Replace Your Air Conditioner?

If your current cooling system is showing any of the following signs, a central air conditioning replacement may be the smartest investment you make this year:

Uneven or weak cooling throughout your home

Energy bills rising without a clear explanation

The system requires frequent repairs

Your unit is 10–15 years old or more

Loud, unusual, or persistent noises during operation

Persistent humidity or air quality issues indoors

Modern energy-efficient air conditioners, particularly SEER2-rated systems, can significantly reduce cooling costs compared to older units. A new installation also comes with manufacturer warranties and full professional support from day one.

Why Professional AC Installation in Mississauga Matters

Choosing the right unit is only half the equation. A professional HVAC installation in Mississauga ensures your system is correctly sized for your home, airflow is properly balanced, and the system operates at peak efficiency from the start. Improper installation, even with a premium unit, leads to higher energy bills, uneven cooling, and a shortened equipment lifespan.

A proper installation by a licensed HVAC contractor includes:

Manual J load calculation to correctly size your new system

Airflow and ductwork evaluation for balanced distribution across all rooms

Safe refrigerant handling by licensed HVAC technicians

Full system commissioning and performance testing after installation

After-service support and seasonal maintenance guidance

At GLORS Heating & Air Conditioning, our licensed technicians manage every step, from system selection to final walkthrough, so your investment delivers reliable comfort for years to come.

Serving Mississauga, Brampton, Milton & the Greater Toronto Area

Whether you're in central Mississauga, Port Credit, Streetsville, Brampton, or Milton, GLORS Heating & Air Conditioning provides trusted residential HVAC installation across the Greater Toronto Area. Our team understands the specific climate demands of Ontario summers and helps you select a system built for local conditions.

Don't Miss the April 30 Deadline

This offer is available for a limited time only. Booking your AC installation in Mississauga before April 30 means you can:

✔ Lock in your free whole-home humidifier ✔ Secure your preferred installation date before peak-season demand ✔ Avoid summer wait times and rushed decisions ✔ Have your home fully prepared before temperatures rise

Waiting too long may mean missing both the offer and timely installation.

A new air conditioner installation is one of the most impactful upgrades you can make to your Mississauga home before summer arrives. By acting during spring, you avoid the seasonal rush, choose the right system without pressure, and take advantage of added value that simply won't be available in June or July.

If you've been thinking about upgrading your central air conditioning system, this is the moment to move forward, and with a free whole-home humidifier included, it's an especially strong time to do it.

AC Service & Maintenance: Why Regular AC Care Matters Before Summer in Mississauga

As temperatures begin to rise across Mississauga and the Greater Toronto Area, your air conditioning system becomes one of the most important parts of your home.

But many homeowners only think about their AC when something stops working.

In reality, regular AC service and maintenance is what keeps your system running efficiently, prevents unexpected breakdowns, and ensures your home stays comfortable throughout the summer.

At GLORS HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING, we often see that small, unnoticed issues in spring turn into bigger problems once peak summer demand begins.

Why AC Maintenance Matters More Than You Think

Your AC system sits idle for months during winter. When it starts running again, several hidden issues can affect its performance:

Dust buildup in filters and coils

Reduced airflow

Refrigerant level issues

Wear and tear on internal components

Without proper servicing, your system has to work harder, which leads to:

Higher energy bills

Uneven cooling

Increased chances of breakdown

Regular AC maintenance ensures your system is ready before temperatures rise.

Signs Your AC Needs Service

Most systems don’t fail suddenly. They give early warning signs.

Watch out for:

Weak airflow from vents

Rooms not cooling evenly

Longer cooling cycles

Unusual noises or vibrations

Higher-than-normal electricity bills

If you notice any of these, it’s better to address them early rather than waiting for peak summer.

What Professional AC Service Includes

A proper AC service is more than just a quick check.

A complete inspection typically includes:

Cleaning or replacing air filters

Checking airflow and duct performance

Inspecting coils and components

Testing thermostat accuracy

Ensuring overall system efficiency

At GLORS HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING, the goal is not just to fix immediate issues but to ensure long-term comfort and reliability.

Why Timing Matters: Service Before Summer

Waiting until the first heatwave often leads to:

Longer wait times

Limited service availability

Emergency repair costs

Scheduling AC maintenance in spring allows:

Faster service

Better system performance

Peace of mind before peak season

From our experience serving Mississauga, Brampton, and the GTA, early preparation always leads to better comfort and fewer issues.

Repair, Service… or Upgrade?

Sometimes, maintenance reveals that your system is no longer performing efficiently.

If your AC is:

Frequently breaking down

Struggling to cool properly

Increasing your energy bills

…it may be worth considering an upgrade instead of repeated repairs.

This is where timing becomes important.

A Smart Time to Upgrade Your AC

Spring is not only the best time for maintenance, it’s also the ideal time to upgrade your system if needed.

Right now, homeowners have the opportunity to improve their cooling system while also getting added value.

For a limited time, when you install a new AC, you can receive a free humidifier, helping improve indoor air balance along with cooling comfort.

This makes early decision-making even more beneficial, both in performance and value.

Why Professional Guidance Matters

Every home is different, and the right decision depends on:

System condition

Home layout

Usage patterns

Budget considerations

At GLORS HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING, we focus on helping homeowners understand their options clearly, whether it’s simple servicing, repairs, or a complete upgrade.

Your air conditioning system is essential for summer comfort, but its performance depends on how well it’s maintained.

Regular AC service helps prevent issues, improve efficiency, and extend the life of your system.

And if your system is no longer performing as it should, early spring is the right time to explore better options.

A little attention now can make a big difference when the heat arrives.

AC Installation Mississauga: The Complete Homeowner’s Guide to Choosing, Timing and Installing the Right Air Conditioner

As temperatures begin to rise in Mississauga, having a reliable air conditioning system becomes essential for home comfort. But choosing the right AC unit and knowing when to install it can feel overwhelming for many homeowners.

From system types to installation timing and long-term performance, making the right decision early can save you money, reduce stress, and ensure your home stays comfortable throughout the summer.

At GLORS HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING, we often speak with homeowners who wish they had planned their installation earlier. This guide is designed to help you make that decision with clarity and confidence.

Why AC Installation Timing Matters

Many homeowners wait until the first heatwave to think about installing an air conditioner. Unfortunately, that’s when demand is at its peak.

Installing your AC early ideally in spring offers several advantages:

Faster scheduling and availability

Better installation timelines

More time to choose the right system

Avoiding emergency decisions during extreme heat

From our experience working across Mississauga and the GTA, early planning always leads to better outcomes both in comfort and cost.

Choosing the Right Air Conditioner for Your Home

Not every home requires the same type of cooling system. The right AC depends on factors like home size, layout, and usage.

1️⃣ Central Air Conditioning

Best suited for:

Detached homes

Homes with existing ductwork

Provides:

Even cooling throughout the home

Long-term efficiency

2️⃣ Ductless (Mini-Split) Systems

Ideal for:

Homes without ductwork

Basements or room additions

Benefits:

Flexible installation

Zoned cooling

Energy efficiency

3️⃣ System Size & Capacity

An oversized or undersized AC unit can lead to:

Poor cooling performance

Higher energy bills

Increased wear and tear

This is where professional assessment becomes important — ensuring your system is properly sized for your home rather than relying on guesswork.

Key Factors to Consider Before Installation

Before installing an AC system, it’s important to evaluate:

✔ Home Insulation

Poor insulation can reduce cooling efficiency.

✔ Airflow & Duct Condition

Leaky or blocked ducts can impact performance.

✔ Energy Efficiency Ratings

Look for higher efficiency systems to reduce long-term costs.

✔ Thermostat Compatibility

Modern thermostats can improve control and efficiency.

A detailed evaluation of these factors helps avoid performance issues after installation — something we always prioritize during system assessments.

The AC Installation Process: What to Expect

Understanding the process helps homeowners feel more confident:

System evaluation and recommendation

Proper sizing and planning

Removal of old unit (if applicable)

Installation of new system

Testing and performance check

A well-planned installation ensures your system operates safely and efficiently from day one not just immediately after setup, but throughout the season.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

Many homeowners make decisions that impact long-term performance:

Waiting too long to install

Choosing the cheapest option without understanding efficiency

Ignoring airflow and duct issues

Skipping professional assessment

In many cases, these issues only become noticeable once the system is already under pressure during peak summer.

Why Professional Installation Matters

AC installation is not just about placing a unit — it’s about ensuring the entire system works together.

A professional approach includes:

Proper home assessment

Correct system sizing

Safe and precise installation

Long-term performance optimization

At GLORS HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING, our focus is not just on installation, but on helping homeowners understand their system and feel confident in their decisions.

Choosing and installing the right air conditioner is an investment in your home’s comfort.

By planning early, understanding your options, and working with experienced professionals, you can ensure your AC system performs reliably throughout the summer and beyond.

If you're considering AC installation in Mississauga, taking the time to assess your home properly and plan ahead can make all the difference.

Why March Is the Best Time to Schedule HVAC Service in Mississauga

Winter is winding down but your HVAC system still needs attention. Find out why March is the smartest time for heating and air conditioning maintenance in Mississauga, Brampton and the GTA and how Glors can help.

Your furnace has worked non-stop since October. Every cold night, every early morning warm-up, every time the temperature outside dropped below zero, your heating system was quietly running in the background keeping your family comfortable. Now that March is here and the worst of the Canadian winter is finally behind us, most Mississauga homeowners shift their attention to spring plans and put their HVAC system completely out of mind.

That is honestly the most common and most costly mistake we see.

March is not just a good time for heating and air conditioning maintenance. It is genuinely the best time. Technicians across the GTA are still available with open schedules, wait times are reasonable, and your system gets the thorough attention it needs before summer demand turns every HVAC company's phone into a non-stop emergency line. The homeowners who call in March get unhurried service at standard rates. The ones who wait until July often find themselves sweating through a heatwave while waiting for a callback.

How Winter Use Affects Your HVAC System

Most people assume their furnace is either working or it is not. In reality, the wear from a full heating season builds up gradually and stays mostly invisible. Filters quietly pack with months of dust and debris. Burners accumulate residue that chips away at combustion efficiency. Blower motors work harder than they should to push air through restricted airways. Condensate drain lines, which handle the moisture produced by high efficiency furnaces, get partially clogged in ways you simply cannot see until they trigger a safety shutoff at the worst possible moment.

None of these things will necessarily stop your system in its tracks right away. But they quietly drive up your energy bills, reduce your comfort, and shorten the lifespan of equipment that should last you 15 to 20 years. A professional inspection in March catches all of it early, well before any of it turns expensive.

What a Spring HVAC Service Actually Covers

A proper seasonal maintenance visit is more comprehensive than most homeowners expect. Here is what a thorough inspection typically covers:

Cleaning and inspecting the furnace heat exchanger, which is the most critical safety component since a cracked exchanger can allow carbon monoxide into your home's air supply

Checking and cleaning burners, ignition components and all electrical connections

Replacing or inspecting your air filter after months of heavy winter use

Testing thermostat calibration to make sure your system is actually hitting the temperatures it thinks it is

Inspecting and cleaning AC condenser and evaporator coils ahead of the cooling season

Checking refrigerant levels, because low refrigerant is far more common than most people realise and puts serious long term strain on the compressor

Clearing the condensate drain line to prevent unexpected safety shutoffs

Identifying worn parts like capacitors before they decide to fail on the hottest day of summer

Finding and replacing a worn capacitor during a routine March visit costs a fraction of what an emergency call runs in the middle of July. That single point alone is often enough reason to pick up the phone now.

Why Waiting Until Summer Costs You More

When the GTA heat arrives in full force, every HVAC company fills up fast. Emergency calls stack up quickly, parts need to be sourced urgently, and the families who skipped their spring maintenance find themselves at the back of a long waitlist, often right in the middle of a heat advisory. Emergency service during peak season also comes with premium pricing on top of standard rates, which nobody wants to deal with when their home is already uncomfortably warm.

Booking your HVAC maintenance in March means you avoid all of that entirely. One call now, one visit, and you head into summer knowing your system is fully serviced, inspected and ready for whatever the season throws at it.

Furnace Repair Near Me: How to Prevent Emergency Furnace Breakdowns Before Spring in Mississauga

March is here, and if you're like most Mississauga homeowners, you're probably looking forward to putting the winter behind you. The heavy coats are almost ready to go back in the closet, and the thought of cranking up the furnace every morning is nearly a distant memory.

But before you fully shift your attention to spring, there's one thing worth doing first. Checking in on your furnace.

Because here's the thing most people don't know. Late winter and early spring are actually when furnaces are most likely to break down. Not in January when it's coldest. Not in December when it first kicks in. But right now, in March, after months of running non-stop through the harshest part of a Canadian winter.

Why March Is the Most Critical Month for Your Furnace

Think about what your furnace has been through since October. Thousands of heating cycles. Filters slowly getting clogged. Parts quietly wearing down. Efficiency gradually dropping. And most of the time, none of this shows up as an obvious warning sign until something actually goes wrong.

Booking a furnace maintenance check in Mississauga this March means you catch all of that before it turns into a problem. Technicians are still available, wait times are reasonable, and you're not paying emergency rates because your heat went out on a cold night.

A little attention now saves a lot of stress later.

5 Warning Signs Your Furnace Is Trying to Tell You Something

Some rooms are warm, others feel freezing If your home heats unevenly, your furnace is struggling to distribute air properly. It could be a clogged filter, leaky ductwork, or a failing blower motor. Any of these will only get worse the longer they go unaddressed.

You're hearing sounds you didn't hear last year A healthy furnace is a quiet furnace. Banging sounds often point to a delayed ignition issue. Rattling can mean something has come loose internally. Squealing typically signals a worn belt or motor bearing. If your furnace has started making new noises this winter, that's worth paying attention to.

Your heating bills have gone up without explanation If your energy costs have crept up but your usage habits haven't changed, your furnace is likely working harder than it should to keep up. An inefficient furnace isn't just expensive to run, it's also telling you something isn't right under the hood.

The furnace keeps turning on and off Short cycling, where your furnace repeatedly starts and stops without completing a full heating cycle, is one of the clearest signs that your system is under stress. It can be triggered by overheating, a thermostat issue, or a blocked flue, and it wears out your furnace much faster than normal operation would.

Your furnace is getting up there in age Most furnaces have a lifespan of around 15 to 20 years. If yours is approaching that range, a thorough inspection before next winter isn't just a good idea, it's genuinely important. Older systems can develop issues that aren't visible without a proper check.

4 Simple Things You Can Do Right Now

Change your air filter This is the single easiest thing you can do for your furnace, and it makes a bigger difference than most people realize. A clogged filter restricts airflow, causes the system to overheat, and forces your furnace to work much harder than it needs to. If you haven't swapped it out since fall, do it today. It takes five minutes and costs very little.

Walk around and check your vents It sounds almost too simple, but blocked vents are a surprisingly common source of furnace problems. Make sure every supply and return vent in your home is fully open and not covered by furniture, rugs, or curtains. Your system needs clear airflow to do its job properly.

Give your thermostat a quick test Set the temperature a few degrees above where your home currently sits and listen for the furnace to respond. If there's a noticeable delay, if the temperature reading seems off, or if the display is behaving strangely, your thermostat may need attention. It's a small thing that can cause big headaches if ignored.

Book a professional tune-up before spring Everything above is helpful, but nothing replaces a proper maintenance visit from a certified technician. They'll inspect the heat exchanger, clean the burners, check the flue and drainage, test all safety controls, and catch anything that needs attention before it becomes an emergency. It's the most effective thing you can do for your furnace right now.

What Skipping Maintenance Actually Costs You

A lot of homeowners put off annual maintenance because it feels like an unnecessary expense. Completely understandable. But the reality is that a neglected furnace uses more energy month after month, breaks down more frequently, and doesn't last as long as one that gets regular care.

A standard tune-up costs a fraction of what an emergency service call runs. And both of those are a fraction of what an early furnace replacement costs. Taking care of it now is genuinely the more affordable choice in the long run.

Is your HVAC System Ready for the Spring ?

What Every Homeowner Needs to Check This February

As February winds down, the promise of spring is in the air. But while you’re dreaming of

open windows and greener lawns, your HVAC system is likely feeling the fatigue of a long

Canadian winter.

Most homeowners only think about their HVAC when the air stops flowing. However, the

"shoulder season", that transition between freezing nights and mild afternoons, is actually

the most critical time for maintenance.

Why Late-Winter Checks Are Non-Negotiable

By the time March arrives, your furnace has been running almost continuously for months.

This extended strain often leads to:

Clogged filters that choke your system’s efficiency.

Mechanical wear on blowers and igniters.

Reduced airflow, leading to hot and cold spots.

Ignoring these "minor" winter hangovers can lead to a total system failure just as you try to

switch over to cooling mode.

5 Steps to Prep Your Home for Spring

1. The Filter Refresh

After a full winter of trapping dust, pet dander, and soot, your filter is likely exhausted. A

clogged filter forces your motor to work twice as hard, spiking your energy bills and

shortening the life of your equipment.

Pro Tip: If you can’t see light through your filter when holding it up to a lamp,

it’s time for a change.

2. Listen to the "Language" of Your HVAC

We often ignore small noises in January because we’re just grateful the heat is on. Now is

the time to be critical. Listen for:

Rattling or banging: Loose components or motor issues.

Whistling: Air leaks or pressure imbalances.●

Short Cycling: The system turning on and off too frequently. Catching these now is

significantly cheaper than an emergency repair in mid-April.

3. Reset Your Thermostat Habits

During extreme cold snaps, we often "crank it up" and forget about it. As the outdoor

temperature rises, those high settings lead to overheating and wasted energy. Transitioning

to a programmable schedule now will ease the load on your system as the weather

fluctuates.

4. Clear the "Air Path"

Over the winter, furniture gets moved, rugs are shifted, and dust bunnies migrate. Walk

through every room and ensure your supply and return vents aren't blocked. Balanced

airflow is the secret to a consistent home temperature, and it costs $0 to fix.

5. Beat the Spring AC Rush

The biggest mistake homeowners make is waiting for the first 25°C day to test their AC. By

then, every HVAC technician in the city is booked solid.

Clear the debris: Ensure no snow, ice, or fallen branches are crowding your outdoor unit.

Schedule early: A late-February inspection ensures you're first in line before the spring rush.

At GLORS HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING, we see it every year: homeowners who take 15

minutes to inspect their system in February avoid the "No AC Emergency" in May.

Seasonal awareness isn't just about comfort; it's about protecting your biggest

investment, your HOME. Don’t wait for the system to tell you something is wrong. Take

control of your home comfort today.

Power Vent Water Heaters Explained : Efficiency, ENERGY STAR® Benefits & Installation Insights

Canadian winters put a lot of pressure on household systems and your water heater is no exception. When temperatures drop, hot water becomes less of a convenience and more of a daily necessity. From longer showers to extra laundry loads and constant dishwashing, winter significantly increases hot water demand.

If your current water heater struggles to keep up, it may be time to consider a more efficient solution. One option that continues to gain popularity across Canadian homes is the Power Vent Water Heater.

Let’s explore why.

Why Hot Water Demand Increases in Winter

During winter months, incoming water temperatures are much colder. That means your water heater must work harder and longer to heat the same amount of water compared to summer.

At the same time:

Showers tend to be longer and hotter

Families spend more time indoors

Laundry loads increase

Dishwashing becomes more frequent

All of this places additional strain on your water heating system. If your unit is older or less efficient, you may notice slower heating, running out of hot water quickly, or higher energy bills.

This is where understanding your system and choosing the right one becomes important.

What Is a Power Vent Water Heater?

A Power Vent Water Heater uses a fan-assisted exhaust system to push combustion gases safely outside your home. Unlike traditional atmospheric models that rely on natural venting through a chimney, power vent units use mechanical assistance to vent exhaust gases.

This design allows for:

Flexible installation options

Improved energy efficiency

More consistent performance

In many modern Canadian homes, especially those without traditional chimney systems, power vent models are a practical and efficient solution.

How Power Vent Models Differ from Standard Tank Water Heaters

While both standard tank models and power vent models store hot water in a tank, the key difference lies in how they vent exhaust gases.

Standard tank models rely on natural draft venting. This works well in certain home layouts but can be less efficient and more restrictive in installation options.

Power vent systems, on the other hand:

Use a built-in fan to control venting

Allow horizontal venting through side walls

Offer more placement flexibility

Improve overall combustion efficiency

For homeowners renovating, upgrading, or building, this added flexibility can make a significant difference.

The Benefits of Power Vent Water Heaters

Higher Efficiency

Modern power vent models, such as the John Wood units available in the Canadian market, offer industry-leading efficiency ratings up to 0.70 EF (Energy Factor). Even larger 75-gallon models maintain strong performance at 0.68 EF.

Higher efficiency means:

Better energy use

Lower operational costs

Reduced energy waste

Over time, this can translate into noticeable savings on utility bills.

ENERGY STAR® Qualified Options

Some power vent water heaters are ENERGY STAR® certified, meaning they meet strict energy efficiency guidelines set for performance and environmental standards.

For homeowners looking to reduce energy consumption while maintaining comfort, this certification provides additional peace of mind.

Quieter Operation

Modern power vent systems are designed for ultra-quiet performance. The integrated fan operates smoothly, minimizing noise compared to older or less advanced models.

In homes where the water heater is located near living spaces, quiet operation becomes an important factor.

Reliable Performance

Consistency matters especially in winter.

Power vent water heaters are built to deliver steady hot water output even during high-demand periods. When installed and maintained properly, they provide dependable operation year-round.

At GLORS HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING, we often see that homeowners value reliability just as much as efficiency. A system that performs consistently reduces stress and unexpected interruptions.

When Should Homeowners Consider Upgrading?

You may want to consider upgrading to a power vent water heater if:

Your current unit is 10–15 years old

You frequently run out of hot water

Energy bills are increasing without clear reason

You’re renovating or finishing a basement

Your home does not have a traditional chimney venting system

Upgrading is not always about replacing a failed unit — sometimes it’s about improving comfort and efficiency before problems arise.

An informed assessment can help determine whether your existing system is still serving your home effectively.

Choosing the Right Water Heater for Your Home

Every home is different. Family size, water usage habits, home layout, and energy efficiency goals all play a role in determining the right system.

That’s why proper evaluation matters.

At GLORS HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING, we believe homeowners should understand their options before making a decision. Whether maintaining an existing system or exploring an upgrade, clarity leads to better long-term comfort.

Winter in Canada demands more from your home systems and your water heater is no exception. A Power Vent Water Heater offers improved efficiency, quieter performance, and reliable hot water when you need it most.

If your current system feels stretched during colder months, it may be worth exploring whether a more efficient solution fits your home.

Comfort starts with informed choices and the right equipment makes all the difference.

Furnace Repair Near Me: Signs Your Furnace Needs Immediate Attention

During Ontario winters, your furnace becomes one of the most important systems in your home. When it works properly, you barely notice it. But when furnace issues start to appear, comfort can quickly turn into stress especially during extreme cold.

Homeowners across the Greater Toronto Area often search for furnace repair when heating problems arise. Understanding common furnace issues, knowing when repairs are needed, and recognizing when emergency furnace repair is required can help protect your home and avoid bigger problems.

Common Furnace Issues Homeowners Experience

Furnace problems usually start with small warning signs. Some of the most common furnace issues include:

Uneven heating throughout the home

Strange noises such as banging, rattling, or humming

The furnace turning on and off frequently

Rising energy bills with no change in usage

Weak airflow from vents

These issues are often early indicators that furnace repair may be needed. Addressing them early can prevent unexpected breakdowns during peak winter months.

When Furnace Repair Should Not Be Delayed

In some situations, delaying furnace repair can lead to system failure or safety concerns. You should consider immediate service if:

Your furnace stops producing heat

You notice burning smells or gas odours

The system shuts down repeatedly

Carbon monoxide alarms are triggered

In these cases, emergency furnace repair becomes essential to restore heat and ensure safety. Winter conditions in Ontario can be unforgiving, making timely repairs especially important.

Why Local Furnace Repair Matters

Many homeowners search for furnace repair near me or furnace repair close to me when heating problems occur. Working with a local HVAC service provider offers faster response times, better understanding of regional weather conditions, and familiarity with local safety standards.

GLORS HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING provides professional furnace repair services across multiple Ontario communities, ensuring homeowners receive reliable service when it matters most.

What to Expect During a Professional Furnace Repair

Professional furnace repair involves more than just fixing a single issue. A proper service includes:

Full system inspection

Identification of underlying furnace issues

Safety checks and performance testing

Clear explanation of repair options

GLORS HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING focuses on practical solutions that restore comfort while helping homeowners make informed decisions.

Preventing Furnace Problems Through Maintenance

One of the most effective ways to reduce the need for emergency furnace repair is regular maintenance. Annual inspections help:

Catch minor furnace issues early

Improve system efficiency

Extend furnace lifespan

Reduce unexpected breakdowns

Preventive maintenance is especially valuable for older systems or homes that rely heavily on heating throughout winter.

When to Consider More Than Just Repair

If furnace repair becomes frequent or costly, it may be time to evaluate long-term options. Age, efficiency, and overall performance should all be considered. A professional assessment helps homeowners decide whether continued repair is worthwhile or if planning ahead is the better option.

GLORS HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING provides honest guidance to help homeowners choose the most practical solution based on comfort, safety, and budget.

Furnace problems are never convenient, especially during winter in Ontario. Understanding common furnace issues and knowing when to seek furnace repair or emergency furnace repair can help homeowners stay warm and protected.

With reliable service across Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton, Niagara, and surrounding areas, GLORS HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING supports homeowners with professional furnace repair services they can trust.

A well-maintained furnace is key to a comfortable winter season.

Repair or Replace Your Furnace: How to Make the Right Decision for Your Home

Your furnace plays a critical role in keeping your home warm and comfortable, especially during Canadian winters. When it starts acting up, homeowners often face the same question: should you repair the furnace or replace it entirely? Making the right decision can save money, prevent stress, and avoid emergency breakdowns at the worst possible time.

This guide walks you through common furnace problems, when a repair makes sense, when replacement is the smarter option, and how professional HVAC services can help you decide with confidence.

Common Furnace Problems Homeowners Experience

Many furnace issues start small but can quickly become serious if ignored. Some of the most common problems include:

Furnace not heating evenly or producing enough warm air

Strange noises like rattling, banging, or humming

Frequent cycling where the furnace turns on and off repeatedly

Rising energy bills without increased usage

Furnace not turning on at all during cold weather

These issues often lead homeowners to search for furnace repair or even emergency furnace repair when comfort and safety are at risk.

When Furnace Repair Is the Right Choice

In many cases, a furnace repair is the most cost-effective and practical solution. Repairing your furnace usually makes sense when:

The furnace is under 10 to 12 years old

The issue is limited to components like thermostats, sensors, or ignition systems

Repair costs are reasonable compared to replacement

The system has been well maintained over the years

Timely furnace repair can restore efficiency, extend the life of your system, and prevent unexpected breakdowns. Professional technicians can diagnose issues early and recommend solutions before they turn into emergencies.

Homeowners looking for reliable furnace repair near me often benefit from working with experienced HVAC professionals who understand both system performance and local climate demands.

Signs It May Be Time to Replace Your Furnace

Sometimes, repairing an older furnace is no longer the best investment. Furnace replacement should be considered when:

The furnace is over 15 years old

Repairs are becoming frequent and costly

Energy efficiency has significantly dropped

Your home struggles to stay warm even after repairs

Safety concerns arise, such as cracked heat exchangers

A new furnace can provide better heating performance, improved energy efficiency, and long-term reliability. While replacement involves a higher upfront cost, it often results in lower monthly energy bills and fewer service issues.

Repair vs Replace: A Simple Way to Decide

A helpful rule homeowner often follow is comparing repair cost to system age. If repair costs exceed a significant portion of a new system’s value, replacement usually makes more sense. Comfort, reliability, and long-term savings should all factor into the decision.

A professional assessment ensures you are not replacing a system unnecessarily or delaying replacement when it is clearly needed.

The Importance of Professional Furnace Assessment

Deciding whether to repair or replace your furnace should never be a guess. Licensed HVAC professionals can inspect your system, evaluate safety and efficiency, and explain your options clearly.

This is where experienced service providers like GLORS HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING add value. GLORS offers professional furnace inspection, repair, replacement, and maintenance services designed to help homeowners make informed decisions without pressure.

Rather than pushing unnecessary upgrades, GLORS focuses on practical solutions that match your home’s needs, comfort goals, and budget.

Preventive Maintenance Makes a Difference

One of the best ways to avoid emergency furnace repair is regular maintenance. Annual inspections help identify small issues early, improve efficiency, and extend the life of your furnace.

Routine servicing also ensures your system operates safely during peak winter months, giving homeowners peace of mind when temperatures drop.

Choosing whether to repair or replace your furnace is not always easy, but the right information makes the decision clearer. Understanding common problems, system age, repair costs, and efficiency helps homeowners avoid unnecessary expenses and unexpected breakdowns.

If you are unsure about your furnace’s condition, consulting experienced professionals like GLORS HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING can help you take the next step with confidence.

A warm, reliable home starts with the right heating decision.

Ask these 10 smart questions before choosing an HVAC company

Questions to Ask Before Hiring an HVAC Company

Choosing the right HVAC company isn’t just about price — it’s about trust, safety, and long-term reliability. Before you sign a contract, ask these important questions to make sure you’re working with a qualified, professional team.

1. How Long Has the Company Been in Business?

In the HVAC industry, credibility matters.

Some companies change names or phone numbers to hide past issues. A well-established company with a proven track record is more likely to stand behind its work and support you long after the job is done.

2. Are They TSSA-Registered?

This is your first layer of protection.

TSSA-registered companies follow safer, stricter, and fully accountable standards — helping ensure installations and repairs are done correctly and legally.

3. How Long Have They Actually Been Operating?

Experience brings reliability.

Established HVAC companies don’t disappear when you need warranty service or repairs. They have systems, processes, and trained people ready to support you long-term.

4. Are They WSIB-Covered and Fully Insured?

Proper insurance protects everyone involved:

Your home

Your finances

The technicians working on-site

If an accident occurs and the contractor isn’t covered, you could be held responsible.

5. Do They Use In-House Installers?

Who installs your system matters just as much as the equipment you buy.

In-house employees deliver consistent quality and care.

Subcontractors may rush work or deliver inconsistent results.

A reputable company takes responsibility for the entire installation process.

6. Do They Have Real Reviews and an Active Online Presence?

Today, transparency is everything.

Authentic reviews and strong ratings help identify trustworthy companies. If a company has very few reviews, poor feedback, or is hard to find online — proceed with caution.

7. Will They Stand Behind the Products They Install?

A professional HVAC company doesn’t disappear once the installation is done.

They build long-term relationships by offering support, maintenance, and assistance with warranty claims — ensuring you always have help when you need it.

8. What Does the Warranty Actually Cover?

Not all warranties are the same.

Comprehensive coverage should include both parts and labour, giving you peace of mind and protecting your investment against unexpected repair costs.
Understanding coverage details upfront prevents surprises later.

9. Why Do Installation Prices Vary Between Companies?

Cheaper isn’t always better.

Price differences usually reflect variations in:

Installation quality

Attention to detail

Adherence to manufacturer guidelines and building codes

A properly installed system runs better, lasts longer, and saves money over time.

10. Who Handles Product Registration?

Professional HVAC companies register your equipment with the manufacturer for you.
This ensures your warranty is activated correctly and avoids the risk of losing coverage due to missed paperwork or deadlines.

How to check your Humidifier ?

How to Check if Your Humidifier Is Working Properly

Increase the thermostat slightly so the furnace turns on.

Set the humidistat to the highest level.

Confirm the water shut-off valve is fully open.

Check inside the humidifier — you should see water begin to drip.

Turn the humidistat back down to the lowest setting.

Verify that the water stops flowing.

✔️ If the water starts when turned up and stops when turned down, your humidifier is functioning correctly.

Why Furnaces Fail in Winter: Common Problems and How to Prevent Them

Winter places heavy demand on furnaces across Ontario. When temperatures drop, heating systems often run for long hours, making even minor issues turn into major problems. Many winter furnace failures don’t happen suddenly they develop slowly and go unnoticed until the system stop working during extreme cold.

At GLORS Heating & Air Conditioning , we help homeowners across the GTA prevent and resolve winter furnace issues every year. Understanding the most common causes of furnace failure & how to prevent them can save you from discomfort, emergency repairs, and high heating costs.

1. Furnace Runs but Doesn’t Heat Properly
One of the most common winter problems is a furnace that turns on but blows cold or lukewarm air.

Common causes include:

Incorrect thermostat settings

Dirty air filters

Ignition or pilot light issues

Restricted airflow causing safety shutdowns

Prevention tip:
Replace filters regularly and ensure thermostat settings are correct. If the issue continues, professional inspection is recommended.

2. Short Cycling and Rising Energy Bill

When a furnace turns on and off frequently, it’s known as short cycling. This reduces efficiency and increases wear on components.

Why it happens:

Dirty filter

Poor airflow

Thermostat problem

Oversize heating systems

Short cycling often leads to higher energy bills, even if usage hasn’t changed.

Prevention tip:
Routine maintenance helps maintain steady operation and improves efficiency.

3. Unusual Noises or Weak Airflow

Strange sounds or uneven heating are warning signs that should not be ignored.

What to watch for:

Banging, rattling, or screeching noise

Cold spots in certain room

Weak airflow from vent

These issues often indicate loose parts, airflow restrictions, or blower problems.

Prevention tip:
Addressing these signs early can prevent more serious damage.

4. Dry Indoor Air and Comfort Issues

Running a furnace continuously during winter dries out indoor air, making homes feel colder than they actually are.

Common symptoms:

Dry skin and throat

Static electricity

Discomfort even at normal temperature

Proper humidity levels improve comfort and allow your home to feel warmer without increasing thermostat settings.

5. Safety and System Shutdowns

Some furnace issues involve safety systems activating to protect your home.

Possible reasons include:

Blocked vents or flue

Faulty sensors

Ventilation problems

These shutdowns prevent unsafe operation and require professional attention.

How to Prevent Furnace Problems in winter

Most winter furnace issues can be avoided with basic care:

Schedule annual furnace maintenance

Replace filters every 1–3 months

Keep vents and returns clear

Pay attention to warning sign

Address small issues early

At GLORS HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING, we focus on proactive maintenance to help homeowners avoid unexpected winter breakdowns.

When to Consider Repair or Replacement

If your furnace is more than 12–15 years old, struggles to heat evenly, or requires frequent repairs, replacement may be more cost-effective in the long run.

Modern high-efficiency furnaces provide:

Better energy efficiency

More consistent heating

Lower long-term operating costs

Improved reliability during Ontario winters

How to reduce Heating Costs during Ontario Winters

Ontario winters are known for their long, cold months, and keeping your home warm can quickly become expensive. The good news is that with a few smart strategies, you can reduce heating costs without sacrificing comfort. At GLORS HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING, we help Ontario homeowners stay warm efficiently by focusing on better system performance, preventative care, and practical home improvements.

Below are the most effective ways to lower bills during Ontario’s winter season.

Schedule Your Annual Furnace Maintenance

Your furnace works nonstop during winter, and even small issues can increase energy consumption. Regular maintenance improves efficiency, reduces wear, and prevents breakdowns. A tuned furnace heats faster, uses less energy and keeps your home comfortable through the coldest days of Ontario.

Seal Drafts Around Windows and Doors

Heat loss through small gaps is one of the biggest causes of high heating bills. Simple fixes like weatherstripping, caulking window frames, installing door sweeps, or using thermal curtains can significantly improve heat retention. Closing these gaps allows your heating system to work less and maintain steady warmth.

Adjust Your Thermostat Smartly

Lowering your thermostat by just 2–3°C when sleeping or not at home can result in noticeable savings. Smart thermostats can automate temperature changes, track energy usage, and help maintain consistent comfort. This simple change helps reduce furnace cycles and prevents unnecessary energy use.

Improve Water Heater Efficiency

Water heaters work harder during winter as the incoming water is much colder. If your water heater produces lukewarm water, heats slowly or causes higher utility bills, it may need a tune-up. Regular flushing, proper temperature settings and timely repairs improve performance and reduce winter energy costs. GLORS also provides installation of high-efficiency water heaters for long-term savings.

Maintain Proper Humidity Levels

Dry winter air makes your home feel cooler than it is. A whole-home humidifier helps retain warmth, improves air quality, and reduces the need to raise your thermostat. GLORS offers humidifier installation, repair, and maintenance to ensure optimal indoor comfort during the winter months.

Enhance Home Insulation

Insufficient insulation allows warm air to escape and cold air to enter. Insulating your attic, basement, and draft-prone areas can significantly improve energy efficiency. Proper insulation helps maintain consistent heat while reducing the workload on your furnace.

Know When It’s Time for a Furnace Upgrade

If your furnace is older than 12 to 15 years, frequently breaks down, or causes rising energy bills, replacement may be more cost-effective than ongoing repairs. High-efficiency furnaces provide better performance, lower monthly heating costs and improved reliability during Ontario’s long winters. GLORS can help you choose the right system for your home and budget.

Reducing heating costs doesn’t require drastic changes just smart habits, routine maintenance, and efficient equipment. By combining these strategies, you can stay warm while keeping winter expenses under control.

GLORS HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING proudly serves homeowners across the GTA with:

Furnace repair, installation, and maintenance
• Water heater repair and replacement
• Humidifier installation and service
• Full HVAC repair and seasonal maintenance

Stay warm, save energy, and let GLORS handle everything that keeps your home comfortable this winter.

How to Stay Warm and Save Energy in Ontario Winters | HVAC Tips

Ontario winters are long, cold, and unpredictable one week is mild, the next brings freezing temperatures and heavy snow. As the season approaches, every homeowner wants a warm, comfortable home without facing skyrocketing energy bills. The good news? With the right preparation and smart HVAC habits, you can stay warm and efficient all winter long.

Here are five essential tips to help you reduce energy waste, prevent heating problems, and keep your home comfortable during the coldest months of the year.

Schedule Your HVAC Maintenance Early

One of the most effective ways to save energy in winter is regular HVAC maintenance. When your furnace or heating system is clean and running properly, it uses less energy and provides more consistent heat.

Why maintenance matters:

Prevents sudden furnace breakdowns

Improves airflow and heating performance

Lowers energy bills

Extends equipment lifespan

If you've ever searched for “furnace repair and service” or “heating and furnace repair near me”, you know winter emergencies can be stressful. A simple tune-up prevents most of these issues and keeps your home comfortable when temperatures drop.

Seal Drafts and Reduce Heat Loss

Even the strongest furnace can’t keep up if your home is letting warm air escape. Drafts around windows, doors, and attics are among the biggest causes of heat loss in Ontario homes.

Quick, affordable fixes:

Add weatherstripping around doors

Seal window gaps with caulking

Use thermal curtains

Install door sweeps

Add foam insulation behind outlets

These simple steps can help your home retain heat, reduce wear on your furnace, and cut energy costs.

Maintain or Upgrade Your Water Heater

Your water heater works harder in winter because it has to heat colder incoming water. If it’s old, inefficient, or full of sediment, it can significantly increase your energy usage.

Signs your water heater needs attention:

Takes too long to heat water

Water runs cold quickly

Rising utility bills

Rumbling or popping noises

Sometimes a simple maintenance flush is enough. In other cases, a water heater tank replacement may be the better long-term option especially if the unit is over 10 years old.

Install a Smart Thermostat for Better Control

A smart thermostat is one of the easiest upgrades for improved comfort and energy savings. It learns your schedule, adjusts temperatures automatically, and helps you avoid heating an empty house.

Benefits include:

Lower monthly energy bills

More consistent indoor comfort

Remote temperature control

Reduced strain on your heating system

Paired with proper HVAC maintenance, smart thermostats help your furnace operate more efficiently and last longer.

Know When to Repair or Replace Your Furnace

Your furnace is the heart of your home in winter. Sometimes a quick repair is enough to restore comfort but in other cases, upgrading to a high-efficiency system is the smarter investment.

Repair may be enough if:

The unit is under 10 years old

Problems are minor and inexpensive

The system has been well-maintained

Replacement is smarter if:

The furnace is 12–15+ years old

You’re facing repeated breakdowns

Heating is inconsistent

Energy bills are steadily rising

A newer system provides stronger performance, better efficiency, and more reliable comfort in harsh Ontario weather.

Staying warm in an Ontario winter doesn’t have to mean higher bills. With the right preparation regular maintenance, sealing drafts, smart thermostat usage, and knowing when to upgrade you can enjoy a comfortable home while saving energy all season long.

At GLORS Heating & Air Conditioning, we specialise in:
Repair • Installation • Maintenance
Furnaces | Water Heaters | Air Conditioners | Humidifiers

Whether you need HVAC maintenance, furnace repair, water heater replacement, or general heating service, our team is here to keep your home warm and efficient this winter.

Beat the GTA Heat: How to Prevent HVAC System Strain This Summer

When GTA’s summer heat waves hit, your air conditioning system becomes your home’s MVP. But extreme temperatures can push HVAC systems to their limits, leading to higher energy bills, unexpected breakdowns, and uncomfortable indoor conditions. At Glors Heating & Air Conditioning, we want to help you keep your system running smoothly—no matter how hot it gets.

1. Why Heat Waves Stress Your HVAC System
When outdoor temperatures soar above the seasonal average, your AC has to work harder to maintain your desired indoor comfort level. This constant strain can lead to:

2. Overheating Components – Motors, compressors, and capacitors can overwork and overheat.

3. Frozen Coils – Ironically, too much strain can cause cooling coils to freeze, reducing efficiency.

4. Reduced Airflow – Filters clog faster, making your AC work even harder.

5. Tips to Reduce HVAC Strain During Extreme Heat
Schedule a Pre-Summer Maintenance Check
Preventative care is the best defense. Our professional tune-ups ensure your system is clean, lubricated, and ready to handle the heat.

6. Change Filters Regularly
In GTA’s dusty summer conditions, filters can clog quickly. Check them every 30 days and replace when necessary.

7. Set a Realistic Thermostat Temperature
Instead of setting your AC to 18°C, aim for 23–25°C. This reduces strain and energy consumption.

8. Use Ceiling Fans to Assist Cooling
Fans circulate the cooled air, making your home feel more comfortable without overworking your AC.

9. Block Out the Sun
Close blinds or use thermal curtains during peak sunlight hours to reduce indoor heat gain.

Signs Your HVAC is Struggling in the Heat

    Warm air blowing from vents

Unusual noises (buzzing, grinding, or clunking)

AC running continuously without reaching the set temperature

    Higher-than-usual electricity bills

If you notice these issues, it’s time to call Glors Heating & Air Conditioning before a small problem turns into a costly repair.

Stay Cool, Stay Efficient
Don’t let Brampton’s scorching summer wear down your HVAC system. With regular maintenance and a few smart adjustments, you can keep cool while protecting your investment.

📞 Contact Glors Heating & Air Conditioning today for expert maintenance, repairs, and installation services tailored to Brampton’s climate.

How to make your HVAC system more energy-efficient.

Making your HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) system more energy-efficient can save you money on energy bills, extend the life of the system, and reduce your environmental footprint. Here’s a comprehensive list of steps to improve HVAC energy efficiency:

✅ Regular Maintenance

Schedule Annual Tune-ups
Hire a professional to inspect and service your system at least once a year (ideally before peak heating or cooling season).

Change Filters Regularly
Replace filters every 1–3 months depending on usage and filter type. Clogged filters restrict airflow and strain the system.

Clean Coils and Fans
Dust and debris buildup on coils or fans can reduce efficiency. Clean them periodically.

🧰 System Upgrades and Adjustments

Install a Programmable or Smart Thermostat
Automatically adjust temperatures based on your schedule. Smart thermostats can learn your habits and optimize use.

Seal Ductwork
Leaky ducts can reduce HVAC efficiency by up to 30%. Use mastic sealant or metal tape to seal visible leaks or hire a pro for full duct sealing.

Upgrade Insulation
Improving insulation in your attic, walls, and ducts reduces the load on your HVAC system.

Zoning Systems
If your home has multiple levels or zones, consider installing a zoning system to heat/cool areas independently.

🌬️ Optimize Airflow and Ventilation

Unblock Vents and Registers
Ensure furniture or drapes aren’t obstructing airflow from vents.

Use Ceiling Fans Strategically
Fans help distribute conditioned air more evenly, allowing you to raise or lower the thermostat a few degrees.

Install Vent Dampers
Adjust airflow to different rooms as needed to avoid over-conditioning unused spaces.

🌱 Improve Efficiency Through Home Design

Use Energy-Efficient Windows and Doors
Double- or triple-pane windows reduce heat transfer. Consider weather stripping and caulking leaks.

Shade Your Home
Use blinds, curtains, or external shading (like awnings or trees) to reduce heat gain in summer.

Cook and Do Laundry During Cooler Hours
These appliances generate heat. Running them in the evening can ease HVAC load.

⚙️ Consider System Replacement if Old

Upgrade to a High-Efficiency HVAC System
If your system is 10–15+ years old, newer ENERGY STAR®-rated systems can be significantly more efficient.

Choose the Right Size System
An oversized or undersized system can waste energy. Have a professional perform a Manual J load calculation.

Why Doesn't My AC Seem to Be Cooling Faster?

Why Doesn't My AC Seem to Be Cooling Faster?

Many people feel that their air conditioner is running but not cooling their home quickly enough. There are several factors that can impact an AC's performance. In this blog, we’ll explain some of the most common reasons your AC might not be cooling efficiently — we hope this helps! If need any assist please reach out to our Glors experts’ team

Note:

"We assume that your furnace filter is clean, your furnace fan is working properly, and the AC condenser (outdoor unit) is functioning well."

If you want to verify whether your AC is working properly, check the return air temperature (air going into the furnace) and the supply temperature (air coming out of the furnace/AC coil). If the temperature difference is more than 15°F, your AC is doing its job.

You can also check the suction copper pipe (usually the thicker pipe covered with black insulation). If it feels cold, that’s another sign your AC is functioning properly.

However, check for any ice buildup on the same pipe. If you see ice, turn off your AC immediately and contact a professional to inspect the system

Correct AC Tonnage

The size of your AC (in tons) must match your home's needs based on your geographical location square footage.

General guideline for the Toronto area:

2 Ton AC for a 2,000 sq. ft. home

3 Ton AC for a 3,000 sq. ft. home

Note: The basement is not usually included in this calculation.
This is because cold air naturally settles, while hot air rises — a basic principle of physics. That’s why basements are typically the coolest part of the house, the main floor is moderate, and the upper floors are usually the warmest.

Refrigerant Levels

Refrigerant pressure plays a huge role in your AC's cooling performance.
Make sure to get your AC professionally serviced at least once a year to ensure refrigerant levels are correct.

If Your AC is Fine, But It Still Feels Warm

Assuming your AC is properly sized and in good working condition, here are some other factors that may affect how quickly your home cools:

Furnace Filter

A clogged furnace filter blocks airflow, reducing cooling efficiency and potentially leading to ice buildup on the evaporator coil.
Tip: Check and replace filters regularly, especially during peak AC season.

Outdoor Condenser Unit

Ensure the outdoor unit (condenser) is clean and free from dust, leaves, or other obstructions. A blocked condenser can severely affect performance.

Air Vents

All vents in your home should remain open, even in rooms you don’t use. Also, keep interior doors open.
Myth-buster: Closing vents in unused rooms doesn't speed up cooling elsewhere — it can actually reduce the total air volume delivered and put pressure on the system.
Think of your house as one closed envelope — for optimal performance, cool air should flow freely throughout.

Humidity

Your AC works harder in high humidity. Excess moisture in the air slows down the cooling process.
Make sure your humidifier is turned off in summer. Aim for indoor humidity around 40%, which is also recommended by health professionals.

Tip: Use a dehumidifier during summer to help your AC perform better and make your home feel cooler.

Example:

House A: 23°C with 70% humidity

House B: 23°C with 40% humidity
Even though the temperature is the same, House B will feel cooler due to lower humidity.
Science says: Moist air holds heat longer than dry air.

Leaky Doors and Windows

Check for air leaks around doors and windows. Warm, moist air from outside can enter through small gaps, adding to your AC’s workload and slowing down cooling.

Attic Insulation

Insufficient attic insulation allows heat from the roof to enter your home. Make sure your attic has the proper amount of insulation to keep your home cool and energy-efficient.

High Outdoor Temperatures

Hot outdoor temperatures heat up walls, bricks, and rooftops. These surfaces retain heat and radiate it indoors, making it harder for your AC to cool your home. This is normal, and your AC may take longer to reach your set temperature during extreme heat.

Use of Curtains and Blinds

Use curtains or blinds to block direct sunlight, especially during the hottest part of the day. This reduces heat gain through windows and keeps your floors and furniture from heating up the room.

Thermostat Settings

We recommend setting your thermostat to one comfortable temperature and leaving it there, especially during hot summer days.

Avoid this mistake:
Don’t set your thermostat higher (or turn off your AC) when you leave for work in the morning, then lower it when you return.
By then, your home — including walls, floors, and ceilings — will have absorbed heat. Your AC will struggle to cool it down and may run non-stop, increasing wear and tear on the system.

Party Time

Everyone loves a good get-together! But be aware that more people = more body heat and moisture, which slows down cooling.
Also, doors tend to open and close frequently during gatherings, bringing in warm, moist air.

Final Thoughts

We hope this information helps you better understand your AC system and how to get the most out of it. If you’re still experiencing issues, feel free to contact us!

How Often Should a Furnace Run in Cold Weather?

The frequency with which your furnace runs during cold weather depends on a few factors, such as the outdoor temperature, your thermostat settings, the size and insulation of your home, and the efficiency of your furnace. However, in general:

Typical Furnace Cycle: In cold weather, a furnace will typically cycle on and off every 15 to 30 minutes, depending on how much heat is needed to maintain the set temperature. The furnace may run longer during extreme cold spells.

Insulation and Home Size: If your home is well-insulated and has a smaller footprint, the furnace will cycle less frequently. Larger homes or those with poor insulation may require the furnace to run more often to maintain warmth.

Thermostat Settings: The higher you set your thermostat, the more often the furnace will run. If your thermostat is set to a temperature much higher than the outdoor temperature, the furnace will work harder to maintain that temperature.

Outdoor Temperature: In extreme cold (e.g., below freezing), your furnace may run more frequently because it has to compensate for the larger temperature difference between inside and outside. In milder cold weather, the furnace may cycle less often.

Furnace Efficiency and Age: Modern, high-efficiency furnaces will run for shorter periods but are more efficient, while older furnaces may need to run for longer cycles to keep up with heating demands.

If you notice that your furnace is running continuously without stopping, or if it isn't running enough to keep your home warm, it could indicate a problem, such as a malfunctioning thermostat, dirty filters, or issues with the furnace itself. Regular maintenance can help keep it running efficiently.

How important is furnace maintenance?

Furnace maintenance is extremely important for several key reasons, both for the safety and efficiency of the system, as well as for your comfort and financial savings. Here’s why it’s important:

Improves Efficiency and Reduces Energy Bills

Regular maintenance ensures that the furnace is operating at peak efficiency, which can lead to significant savings on energy bills. A well-maintained furnace uses less energy to heat your home, as dust and debris can block airflow and reduce the furnace's effectiveness. This reduces unnecessary strain on the system, improving its overall performance.

Extends the Lifespan of the Furnace

Routine maintenance, such as cleaning filters, checking for leaks, and replacing worn-out parts, helps extend the lifespan of the furnace. Most furnaces can last 15 to 20 years, but without proper care, their lifespan can be much shorter. A lack of maintenance accelerates wear and tear, leading to more frequent breakdowns and costly replacements.

Prevents Costly Repairs

Many furnace issues can be prevented with regular inspections. During maintenance, a technician can identify and fix small problems before they become major issues. Addressing a clogged filter or worn-out part early can prevent expensive repairs or even the need for a full replacement.

Ensures Safety

A malfunctioning furnace, particularly one that runs on natural gas, can pose serious safety risks, such as carbon monoxide leaks. Regular maintenance includes checking for leaks, ensuring the combustion process is efficient, and confirming that ventilation systems are working properly. These measures help keep your home and family safe from dangerous gases or fire hazards.

Improves Indoor Air Quality

Furnace maintenance typically involves cleaning and changing filters. Clean filters improve airflow and remove dust, allergens, and pollutants from the air. A well-maintained furnace contributes to better indoor air quality, which is especially important for individuals with allergies or respiratory issues.

Keeps Your Home Comfortable

A furnace that is regularly maintained operates more consistently, which means it can more effectively regulate the temperature in your home. You’re less likely to experience uneven heating or cold spots, making the environment more comfortable overall.

Maintains Warranty Coverage

Some furnace warranties require proof of regular maintenance to remain valid. Neglecting maintenance could void the warranty, leaving you responsible for any repair or replacement costs that occur later.

Reduces Emergency Breakdowns

By performing routine checks and addressing potential problems proactively, you reduce the chances of a breakdown during the coldest days of winter. This ensures that your heating system keeps working when you need it most.

What Furnace Maintenance Involves:

Changing air filters regularly

Cleaning and inspecting the burner and flame sensor

Checking and cleaning the blower motor

Inspecting the thermostat and recalibrating if necessary

Lubricating moving parts (like the fan and motor)

Checking gas connections and ensuring proper ventilation

Cleaning the furnace ducts to ensure efficient airflow

When to Schedule Maintenance:

It’s best to have your furnace serviced once a year, preferably in the fall before the cold weather hits. This gives you time to address any issues before you rely on the furnace for heat.

In summary, furnace maintenance is a key part of keeping your home safe, comfortable, and energy-efficient. It helps prevent major breakdowns, extends the life of your furnace, and saves money in the long run.

The Benefits of Using a Humidifier at Home

Using a humidifier at home can offer numerous benefits, particularly in maintaining a comfortable and healthy living environment. Here are some of the key advantages:

Improved Air Quality

Moisture Balance: Humidifiers add moisture to the air, which can alleviate dryness caused by heating systems or air conditioning, particularly in winter.

Reduction of Allergens: Proper humidity levels can help reduce the presence of dust, pet dander, and other allergens, making it easier for allergy sufferers to breathe.

Respiratory Health

Soothing Irritation: Adding humidity can soothe irritated respiratory passages, reducing symptoms associated with colds, allergies, and asthma.

Easier Breathing: Moist air can help relieve congestion and improve overall respiratory function, particularly during cold and flu season.

Skin Health

Prevention of Dry Skin: Humidifiers can help prevent dry skin, chapped lips, and other skin irritations that occur in dry air.

Hydration: Moisture in the air helps maintain skin hydration, promoting a healthier appearance.

Comfort and Well-Being

Thermal Comfort: Humidified air can feel warmer than dry air, which may help you feel more comfortable at lower temperatures, potentially saving on heating costs.

Improved Sleep: Many people find that a humidifier helps them sleep better by reducing snoring and providing a more comfortable breathing environment.

Protection of Home and Furnishings

Preventing Damage: Maintaining proper humidity levels can protect wooden furniture, musical instruments, and other items sensitive to dryness from cracking or warping.

Reducing Static Electricity: Higher humidity levels can help reduce static electricity, which can be annoying and potentially damaging to electronic devices.

Health Benefits for Children

Better for Babies: Using a humidifier in a baby’s room can help prevent dry skin and respiratory issues, making it a common choice for parents.

Reduced Risk of Illness: Proper humidity can help reduce the spread of viruses and bacteria, contributing to fewer illnesses in children.

Variety of Options

Different Types Available: There are various types of humidifiers (e.g., cool mist, warm mist, ultrasonic), allowing users to choose one that best fits their needs and preferences.

Considerations When Using a Humidifier

Maintenance: Regular cleaning is essential to prevent mold and bacteria buildup in the unit.

Humidity Levels: It’s important to monitor humidity levels, as excessive humidity can lead to mold growth and dust mites. Ideally, indoor humidity levels should be kept between 30-50%.

In conclusion, using a humidifier can significantly enhance comfort, health, and the overall environment in your home. By addressing dryness and its associated issues, a humidifier can be a valuable addition to your household.

How to check Humidifier is working or not?

To determine whether your humidifier is working effectively, you can follow several steps:

1. Check for Visible Signs of Operation
Water Mist: If your humidifier is an ultrasonic or steam model, you should see a fine mist or steam coming out of the unit. This is a clear indication that it is working.
Sound: Most humidifiers make some noise during operation. Listen for the sound of the fan or the water being vaporized.

2. Observe Humidity Levels
Hygrometer: Use a hygrometer (a device that measures humidity) to check the humidity levels in the room. The optimal indoor humidity level is typically between 30% and 50%. If the humidity level is significantly below this range, your humidifier may not be functioning properly.
Room Comfort: If the air feels dry, static electricity is present, or you notice dry skin and throat, your humidifier may not be working effectively.
3. Inspect the Water Reservoir
Water Level: Check the water tank to ensure that it is filled. If the tank is empty, the humidifier will not be able to produce moisture.
Water Flow: If your humidifier has a continuous flow feature, make sure water is reaching the unit properly.
4. Check for Blockages or Issues
Filters: If your humidifier has a filter, check if it needs cleaning or replacing. A clogged or dirty filter can impede performance.
Nozzles and Vents: Inspect the nozzles or vents for any blockages. Clean them if necessary to ensure proper airflow.
5. Test the Settings
Adjust Settings: If your humidifier has adjustable settings, try changing them to see if it affects performance. Some units have settings for low, medium, and high output.
6. Inspect for Leaks
Check for Leaks: Look for any water leaking from the unit. Leaks can indicate a malfunction or a problem with the water tank.
7. Use a Room Temperature Test
Temperature Change: After running the humidifier for several hours, feel the air. If the air feels noticeably more humid (i.e., warmer and more comfortable), the humidifier is likely working.
8. Duration of Operation
Running Time: Consider how long the humidifier has been running. If it runs for a long time without producing mist or increasing humidity, it may need servicing.

If you perform these checks and still suspect that your humidifier is not working correctly, consult the manufacturer’s manual for troubleshooting tips or consider contacting a professional for repairs.

How the furnace installation make the difference in price.

The price of furnace installation can vary significantly based on several factors, which can affect both the overall cost and the long-term efficiency of the heating system. Here are some key aspects that can influence the price of furnace installation:

How long has the company existed?

Bunch of companies shut down within 2-3 years to hide taxes or do not want to take responsibility for fake promises about warranty.

If the company is listed with TSSA, it has a different reputation.

Is the company using employees or subcontractors??

As subcontractors have no personal touch with the client, for them it’s just X amount of work. So huge chances of corner cuts, which lead to unexpected breakdowns.

Is the company WSIB covered??

Does the company have liability insurance?

Is company on social media or any digital platform?

Private contractors can easily hide their shelves by changing their phone numbers.

The company has good genuine reviews on digital platforms. Because companies that are doing well on digital platforms won’t cheat you for maintaining reputation.

Installation cost can vary if following manufacturer specifications and CODE.

Better installation will extend the life of equipment and prevent damage.

Parts warranty and labor warranty make a difference in cost too.

Is the company staying behind the product they sell you?

Only buying the same brand from other contractors doesn’t mean the same kind of service.

As brand manufacturers (especially distributors) can do some favors to big buyers (HVAC companies),

Headache of product registration.

What to check if your furnace isn't working

If your furnace stops working, here are some key things to check before calling a professional:

1. Thermostat Settings:

Ensure the thermostat is set to "heat" and is set to a temperature higher than the current room temperature.Check the battery if it has one, as a low battery can cause the thermostat to stop working.

2. Power Supply:
Make sure the furnace is getting power. Check the breaker box for any tripped circuits and reset them if necessary. Some furnaces have a dedicated switch that looks like a light switch; make sure it’s in the "on" position.

3. Air Filter:
A clogged air filter can restrict airflow, causing the furnace to shut down. Check if the filter is dirty and replace it if necessary.

4. Gas Supply (for gas furnaces):
Ensure the gas valve is open and that there's a gas supply. If there are any signs of a gas leak, turn off the furnace immediately and contact your gas company.

5. Pilot Light or Igniter:
Older furnaces with a pilot light should have it lit. If it’s out, follow the manufacturer's instructions to relight it safely.
Newer models use an electronic igniter; if the igniter is faulty, it may need to be replaced.

6. Furnace Door:
Some furnaces have a safety switch that won’t allow them to run if the door isn’t securely closed. Check to make sure the access panel is properly closed.

7. Blocked Vents:
Check for any blockages in the furnace's intake or exhaust vents outside. Snow, debris, or ice buildup can obstruct airflow.

If these steps don’t help, there could be an internal issue that requires a professional HVAC technician from glorsheating.com to diagnose and repair.
